What makes suspended pools different
Water is heavy, and a pool above ground must be supported by a structure engineered for it. That changes the way the project is planned and built:
- Structural engineering: the supporting slab, columns or walls must be designed by a qualified engineer for the full weight of water, shell and finishes.
- Waterproofing: joints, penetrations and the shell itself need meticulous waterproofing, since leaks affect the structure below.
- Plumbing and plant: pump rooms, balance tanks, drainage and overflow need to be planned from the start.
- Safety: raised pools need robust barriers, safe access and non-slip surfaces.
